There is also a once-off Acceptance & Administration Fee of R2 000. This becomes payable once an applicant has completed the application process and been accepted, and it secures their place. It covers enrolment administration, student onboarding, programme documentation and intake preparation.

No, you do not. Horses are provided, and students work with horses of different temperaments and levels of training.
Yes, you may. You would need to bring your own horse feed and concentrates where applicable.
Please make sure your horse’s passport is up to date and that injections and vaccinations are current. Deworming is done once the horse is on the ranch.
There are structured programme options of 3, 6 and 9 months, so you can choose the length that suits you.
No. You do not need to arrive knowing everything — you need to arrive willing to learn.
The programme is practical experiential learning, rather than a conventional classroom course.
Horsemanship and horse handling, horse care and stable-yard skills, cattle handling, ranching, agriculture, roping, equipment care, teamwork, everyday life skills and personal development.
Shiloh Ranch provides preparation and practical experience and does not issue EQASA or CEEPSA qualifications or claim EQASA or CEEPSA accreditation. We are members of both. Students wishing to pursue external certification may apply independently through EQASA or CEEPSA.
Shiloh Ranch is near Jamestown in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
No two days are exactly the same. A day may involve feeding animals, working horses, checking cattle, stable duties, riding, maintenance, agricultural work or learning a completely new skill.
The programme is intended as an immersive experience and includes student accommodation and meals, depending on the final selected package and terms.
Every student needs a student pack before starting. It includes a cap, two shirts, a saddle and bridle, and a lasso if you do not already have one. This is mandatory.

Students are welcome to go home over weekends. And when we hold an event at the ranch, parents are welcome to come to that.
